1941 R&B soul singer Otis Redding born in Dawson or Macon, Georgia. Otis perfected a near Eastern sence of accelendro in his music, starting slow and finishing at an extactic fast pace. Inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989.
1942 One half of the singing siblings, Inez Foxx (nee: Inez Fox Fletcher, aka Inez Johnston), born in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Foxx's biggest hit was the R&B classic, "Mockingbird" (rel under Inez's name 6/93, Symbol records, estimated sales to date 100 million, its last major appearance in Dumb & Dumber), a song Charlie originally intended for Gloria Lynne. Fox went solo in 1969.

1946 Keyboard player, actor and vocalist Billy Preston born in Houston, Texas. Preston began playing when very young with Mahalia Jackson, and acting as the teen W.C. Handy in the film "St. Louis Blues." Later her would regularly on TV, on "Shindig" and "Good News." He was best known as the big sound organist for rock acts like Little Richard, Ray Charles, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.

1947 Freddy Weller born in Atlanta, Georgia. Freddy was one of Paul Revere's favorite Raiders, co-wrote the hit "Dizzy" with Tommy Roe, and later did well in the world of Country music.

1965 MC Shan (Shawn Moltke) born in Elmhurst, New York. As a rapper Shan was responsible for the classic "Dis" wars with Boogie Down Productions, recorded "The Bridge" and "Kill That Noise", and produced Snow's platinum album.
