1937 High powered vocalist Billy Stewart born in Washington, D.C., Called, "The Fat Boy," Billy is best known for unlikely version of Gershwin's, "Summertime." As a teen Stewart began as a member of his family's, The Stewart Gospel Singers, joined Don Covay in The Rainbows, then went solo when discovered by Bo Diddley and signed to Chess/Argo in 1956. Famous relations include David (Temptations) and Grace (Jewels) Ruffin.
