| 1976 | | Rubin "Hurricane" Carter, the subject of a Bob Dylan song and two concerts organized in support of the jailed boxer, is released from prison. New York's Finest bust David Bowie and Iggy Pop for drug possession. The charges were later dropped. |

| 1991 | | 88 year old Leo Fender dies in CA. One of the electric guitar pioneers, Leo started mass producing solid body electric guitars in the late 40s. Telecaster and Stratocaster are Fender trademarks. |
| 1995 | | Bill Berry released from the hospital in Switzerland. Bill, the drummer for R.E.M. had left the stage during a concert with a massive headache, a few days later had brain surgery. |
| 1997 | | 90 year old songwriter Fred Spielman (Fritz Spielmann) dies in New York City. His career spanning over 60 years, Fred churned 900 plus compositions for the likes of Crosby, Sinatra, and in the 70s the Grammy nominated, "Paper Roses", for Marie Osmond. |
