1956   Andy Cox of the English Beat, later the Fine Young Cannibals and budding thespian, born.
1958   Gary Brian Tibbs, last seen with Adam & The Ants, is born in the UK. Gary could actually play bass, having worked with Roxy Music, UK Punks, and the Vibrators.

1963   When the US division of Capitol Records passes on the British group "The Beatles", a small Black owned record company out of Chicago, Vee Jay Records, signs them for their first US release!

Charles Manson and three of his followers are found guilty (sentenced to life) of the murder of actress Sharon Tate, and others in a 1969 killing spree. Charles was a successful hippie commune death cult leader and a lousy singer-songwriter.

1973   Fear of flying and good publicity force David Bowie to begin a world tour in America by crossing the Atlantic on the QE2 ocean liner.
1975   At the Houston Astrodome in Texas, Bob Dylan hosts Night of the Hurricane II, an all star benefit to help free unjustly (?) imprisoned boxer, Rubin Hurricane Carter. Joining him on-stage are Isaac Hayes, Ringo Starr, Stephen Stills and many others.
1976   R&B singer Chris Kenner dies.
1980   Specials premier in the US at Hurrah in NYC.

After serving 8 days of a whopping 10 day sentence for possession of marijuana, Paul McCartney is kicked out of Japan.
