1941   Ray Stevens (Ray Bagsdale) born in Georgia. Ray wrote novelty songs ("A-Hab the Arab", "The Streak") and "Turn Your Radio On".

1944   Neil Diamond (Noah Kaminsky) born in Brooklyn. Best loved for writing Monkee songs. (or '41?)
1947   Warren Zevon born.

Jim Rutledge of Bloodrock is born.

1949   Comic John Belushi born. A terrific talent, the music world knows him as one half of the Blues Brothers (a lame best-selling mess) with Dan Ackroyd.
1958   Julian Holland, known as, 'Jools', in the band Squeeze was born.

1962   Beatles sign contract with Brian Epstein
1967   Detroit Disc Jockey and founder of the White Panther Party John Sinclair is arrested for possession of 2 marijuana joints. He is later sentenced To 9 1/2 Years. The harsh sentence became the basis for much talk, many concerts and rallies, and a bit of music, including: "Ten for Two" and "It Ain't Fair, John Sinclair". John now host of a popular New Orleans R&B/blues show.
1969   Opening for Led Zeppelin in New York City, Jethro Tull make their US concert debut.
1970   Doo Wopper James "Shep" Shepherd, (the Heartbeats, Shep & The Limelights) found dead, beaten and robbed in his car on the L.I .Expressway.

The 'mini-moog' introduced by Dr. Robert Moog, giving musicians a primitive but effective portable synthesizer. Event heralds an era of grandiose rock, while a lot of professional classical and pop musicians doing back-up, film, television and jingle work, see the writing on the wall.
