1936   "Dang Me" if country novelty artist Roger Miller ("King of the Road" - his biggest seller and name of his motel chain!) wasn't born in Fort Worth, Texas.
1942   Chick Churchill, organist from Ten Years After, born.
1943   Guitarist and vocalist in CSN & sometime Y, Graham Nash born.
1948   Kerry Minnear, of British Progressive Rock band Gentle Giant, born.
1949   Florida country singer Tom Gribbin born, Gribbin would rise to fame/infamy in '81 as the first country star to record a punk song, the Clash's "The Guns of Brixton".
1963   Keith Gregory of the Wedding Present born.
1971   George Harrison's first LP as an ex-Beatle, All Things Must Pass, hits #1 on the US charts.
1974   Tex Ritter (Woodward Maurice Ritter), the singing cowboy, dies at age 67. Tex was trying to bail out one of his bandmembers at the Metro jail in Nashville when he collapsed.
1977   Pop Jazz organist/keyboardist Erroll Garner dies.
1979   Sid Vicious's murder trial begins in NYC. Sid is accused of murdering his girlfriend, Nancy Spungen in October last.
1980   Larry Williams, best known for the songs "Dizzy Miss Lizzy", "Bony (Bonie?) Maronie" and Brit-band favorite, "Slow Down", is found dead in his Los Angeles home of gunshot wounds to the head. Whether the 45 year old rock&roll singer committed suicide or was murdered was never resolved.
1981   Singer David Lynch, one of the original Platters, dies.
1983   Broadway musical "Annie" closes after 2,377 performances.
1989   Urban-Tek/Slam Records release first new Bob Marley record in 6 years. ( Marley has been dead since 1981).

Eddie Heywood dies.
