1963   The Whiskey-A-Go-Go opens on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles. One of the cities first rock venue, the joint becomes an industry hideout and showcase, with bands like the Doors getting their big chance here. Historians want to know, "Was this the first time Go-Go girls were put in cages?"

The Beatles make their first national TV appearance in the UK, singing "Please Please Me" on Thank Your Lucky Stars.

1968   According to the British tabloid, The Daily Mirror, Jimi Hendrix justifies an Englishman's worse fear, that money fuels aspirations beyond a person's 'station', when he has moves into George Frederick Handel's former home - where the country's most famous (only?) composer is rumored to have written "Water Music" and the "Messiah." Hendrix assures readers that he will "not let the tradition down" and continue to compose in the house.

1985   Largest rock concert ever held takes place in Rio, Brazil. Performers include Queen, Rod Stewart, Yes, Iron Maiden, Whitesnake and AC/DC.
