1975   Jump vocalist and jive alto saxman Louis Jordan dies. His best known song was "Choo Choo Ch-Boogie". Often cited as a early rock progenitor, his antic moves and lively dance music bridged the gap between R&B and R&R.

Kidnapped heiress Patricia Hearst, who was believed to have joined her kidnappers gang in robbing banks, is arrested in San Francisco.
