Smokey was a founder of the Matadors (mid-'50s) who became the Miracles, went solo in '72 - a Motown staple most of his life as singer, songwriter, arranger, and producer. Bob Dylan called him, "America's greatest living poet," was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ('87) and earned his Grammy's Living Legends Award (89). |
