Greenwood, 1994. ISBN#:0-313-28724-4 hardbound, 287 pages, B&W

comprised of good, short biographies, with cursory discographies. We use

Blues from the Delta William Ferris Anchor Press,
1978. ISBN#: 0-385-09918-5 hardbound, 226 pages, B&W illus.,
$9. History. Tad self- serving, but nothing as smarmy as the Lomax
book, The Land Where the Blues Began (Pantheon, 1993). By the
future head of the Center for the Study of Southern Culture, with a
homey feel and gentle touch. Concentrates on Mississippi Delta blues
Nothing But the Blues: The Music and the Musicians
Lawrence Cohn Abbeville, 1993. ISBN#: 1-55859-271-7 hardbound,
432 pages, B&W illus., $45. History. Good first book to get if $45
is a reasonable number for you. While it borders on a coffee table
book, the illustrations are swell, the writtinĠ easy going and accurate.
Not definitive by any means, but provides a good overview. Short
discography.
