ARChive Services & Rates
All requests handled by phone, fax or e-mail. Visits can be arranged on
a project-by-project basis.
Research fees are charged when a question involving a search is
involved. If you want our opinion, or need suggestions for any usage,
then you are into the dreaded "consultation fee" area.
If any information garnered from using the ARChive becomes a part of a
project, then we expect a credit. If we are used as a consultant, credit
will be agreed to prior to beginning the project.
Research Fees
General research: $35.00 per hour
Publishing/masters research: $50.00 per hour
Expenses billed at cost.
Photographing Materials and Loans
$50.00 per item.
When usage fees apply (books and magazines), a
per-item fee is deducted.
We prefer materials to be photographed at our location. Out-of-house
work requires insurance and return within 24 hours. Late fees are $25
per item, per 24-hour period. Loans that involve any use beyond a
24-hour turnaround are negotiated on a per-item basis. Large jobs
involving a great deal of material are available at negotiated rates.
Work requested and not used is billed at $35 per hour for pulling and
refiling. Recordings loaned to be used for cutting new masters are
loaned at the rate of $100 per item. We ask that loaned recordings be
played only once.
Copies of Sound Recordings
Copies of sound recordings in the collection can only be made with the
permission of the copyright holder, or when the request comes from the
recording artist(s). Cassette or DAT copies are $35.00 per album or
song title for the first item, hourly rates thereafter. We can also find
any LP for you to purchase!
Consultation Fees
Film, television and project consultation is available on a case by case
basis. Minimum charge is $150.00 per hour.
Research Memberships
$500.00 per year
Basic services provided at no charge to Research Members:
* Simple fact-checking
(spellchecking, band histories, chart info, song titles, release numbers, dates, etc...)
* Addresses & contact numbers for artists / music industry people
Services offered at the reduced rate of $25.00 per hour to Research Members:
* In-depth research or extensive book/manuscript work
* Locating lyrics/sheet music, creating discographies, etc...
* Proofreading articles, manuscripts, or liner notes ¥ Finding any sound recording for purchase
* Locating master tapes or publishing data
* Cataloging or organizing collections/libraries
* Answering sample and copyright questions
* Making copies of sound recordings (with copyright-holder's permission)

Listening Room Rental
A private room for listening or viewing. Desk, telephone, audio copying facilities, clearance assistance, on call librarian. Full access to the collection!
